Notes
This is only a virtual museum and does not actually exist in San Antonio, Texas. It was made as an English project at an 11th grade level at Cuero High School in Cuero, Texas. The information in this virtual museum is based off of facts, but also altered to be considered "creative writing." The curators of this virtual museum are Cheyenne Miller, Nathan Corpus, and Sutton Davis, students from Cuero High School.
We chose San Antonio, Texas as our location for the museum because Riordan himself was born and raised in San Antonio, which is about an hour away from Cuero! He spent most of his life teaching and writing in Texas, and then spent some time in San Francisco continuing his writing and teaching career. Riordan currently lives back in his hometown of San Antonio with his wife, two kids, dog, and three cats.
Artifact 1: This is a timeline detailing Riordan's life from birth to present. The artifact is all factually based and none of it is made up. Rick Riordan is a very decorated author, this can be proved by seeing all of his awards and honors mentioned in the timeline. It also includes the order that the Percy Jackson books were published in, allowing visitors of the museum to have the opportunity to read the series themselves.
Artifact 2: This is a Q&A section that showcases frequently asked questions that "Rick" answers, "Rick" is actually one of the curators of the site, Sutton Davis. This is factually based, but some answers were modified in order to fit the creative writing standard of the project. A lot of these questions are based off of fan questions that are frequently thought of by the everyday reader that has read or is reading one of Rick's books.
Artifact 3: This artifact contains diary entries based off of Riordan's books. These go off of the plot of his Percy Jackson books. The entries follow Percy's time at Camp Half-Blood, although not all of the things he writes about truly happen in the books. Creative writing techniques were used to enhance the authenticity of the diary itself.
Artifact 4: This is the fan art section and includes four different entries by fans based on scenes from the Percy Jackson series. All of these were drawn by two different students at Cuero High School. Three by a student named Laura Davis and the other by Cheyenne Miller. These are all factually based on the books' characters that Percy Jackson comes in contact with.
Artifact 5: This is a slide show of different character cards of Greek gods and monsters. The characters shown appear in Riordan's Percy Jackson series. Each card presents an image of the Greek god/monster and a few facts about the being. Visitors of the site are given the opportunity to study the cards in order to test their knowledge in Artifact 6.
Artifact 6: This is a quiz presented by Kahoot! of the Greeks gods and monsters displayed in artifact 5. It can be taken with friends and family; have fun and study up!
Thank you again for visiting the virtual museum of Rick Riordan, we hope you enjoyed your stay and learned a little bit about one of our favorite authors!
